The BMD-3 is the Result of the development of a new airborne combat vehical for the Russian Airborne Forces. The BMD-3 features a ATGM on the roof and a 2A42 30mm Autimatic cannon with a coaxial 7.62x54mmR PKT machine gun in the turret. The BMD-3 also features a AGS-17 30mm grenade luncher and a RPK-74 machine gun in the bow. bIt has a crew of 3 and can carry 4 passengers in the rear.
Currently no Further orders have been made due to the recent development of the BMD-4.
The BMD-3 is to remain in service alongside newer BMD-4s.
